Landscape, Pattern, Movement, Text is a work that moves between autobiographical reflections on visual language within a responsive aleatoric sequencing system. The installation features four deconstructed cathode ray tubes controlled by an algorithmic switching system that indeterminately arranges four channels of video with each channel containing sequences related to landscapes, patterns, movements and texts found and experienced by the artist. In turn, the chance operations driving the structure of the installation make it so that the viewer would have to sit with the piece for several weeks to see every combination of image and speed, creating a kind of living database cinema that sits a tenuous space between structure and content.
