Polish-American philosopher Alfred Korzybski once said that the map is not the territory, and the word is not the thing. As a triptych of Gyeongbokgung Palace in the post social media age, the image processing reflects the complex mental process of witnessing something I could not fully comprehend. The place is and is not what it was, its purpose is and is not what it purports to be, and the people within are both present yet fully immersed in broadcasting themselves. A portrait of moments existing simultaneously as imaginary, symbolic, and real.
